LAKE COUNTRY, B.C. — Members of Kamloops Search and Rescue (KSAR) are aiding in the search for a missing 32-year-old Kelowna man in the Lake Country area.

Central Okanagan Search and Rescue (COSAR), leading the search, is looking for Mitchell Gowing with the help of SAR teams from Kamloops Salmon Arm, Merritt, Vernon, Penticton, and Grand Forks.

Gowing was last seen on Tuesday June 9, and Kelowna RCMP describe the man as standing 5’7” tall and weighing about 146 pounds, with mostly shaved reddish blonde hair and a beard the same colour and blue eyes.

COSAR said Gowing’s vehicle, a white 2008 Ford Ranger, was found on Pelmewash Way, south of Vernon, on Friday.

KSAR has sent six members to aid in the search efforts.

“Ground searchers, boat teams, and dog teams from multiple SAR teams throughout the region are continuing coordinated search efforts in the Spion Kop Mountain area,” said KSAR officials.

COSAR and the assisting search teams have been looking for the man since his vehicle was found.

“COSAR is asking residence in the Spion Kop area to check their property and out buildings for any sign of Gowing. If you have any information, please contact police or email tips@cosar.ca,” said SAR officials.

“COSAR also asks for the public’s patience when using Pelmewash Way as one lane will be set aside for search vehicles.”

Kelowna RCMP is also urging anyone with information on Gowing’s whereabouts to contact them at 250-762-3300 and reference file number 2026-35435.
