VICTORIA — Conservative Party of BC (CPBC) leader Kerry-Lynne Findlay has chosen a Barriere resident and former anti-HST crusader as her new top aide.

In a memo to the party’s caucus shared online by radio host Jas Johal, Chris Delaney says he has been appointed Findlay’s chief of staff.

Delaney’s message states his background in film and TV animation, as well as ‘video games’. He describes himself as a businessman with property development interests and the owner of a tree farm in the BC Interior.

Delaney came to prominence on the provincial political scene as the leader of the right-of-centre BC Unity Party, which ran 56 candidates in the 2001 provincial election.

A decade later, Delaney was a leading figure in the fight against the BC Liberal government’s Harmonized Sales Tax, which was repealed after a provincial referendum.

Findlay, a former federal MP, was officially elected CPBC leader on May 30. She does not hold a seat in the BC legislature.
