Hundreds of kilometres of highways and side roads in Kamloops area slated for resurfacing work

KAMLOOPS — Resurfacing work is underway to improve nearly 500 kilometres of highways and side roads in the southern Interior throughout construction season. 

B.C.’s Ministry of Transportation and Transit says it’s committed $136 million to 14 major infrastructure projects in the southern Interior in 2026. In a news release issued Tuesday (June 9), the province says work to resurface the roadways began in April. 

Projects in the Kamloops area include: 

  • Highway 1 Monte Creek to Hoffman’s Bluff (18.1 kilometres) 
  • Highway 1 Crazy Creek to Revelstoke (29.5 kilometres) 
  • Highway 1/97 Venables Valley Road to Highway 99 junction (27.1 kilometres) 
  • Highway 5 Snowshed Hill, Henning to Larson Hill and Coldwater Road (50.6 kilometres) 
  • Highway 5 CN Junction Road to Rayleigh and Inks Lake Hill northbound (27.3 kilometres) 
  • Highway 97 Lac la Hache area, and area side roads (61 kilometres) 
  • Highway 97 Clinton to 83 Mile House (45.5 kilometres) 
  • Chase-Falkland Road (28.7 kilometres) 

Drivers are reminded to be aware of construction-zone speed limits and the direction of traffic-control personnel.
