KAMLOOPS — A vehicle fire from Royal Inland Hospital (RIH) caught the attention of early birds in Kamloops Friday (June 5).

Kamloops Fire Rescue (KFR) responded to a parking stall by the RIH emergency room at around 5:15 a.m. where a vehicle was fully engulfed in flames, creating a notable plume of smoke.

KFR Captain Will Harlock told CFJC Today crews were able to contain the fire to the vehicle itself. No injuries were reported, and the fire is not suspicious.

“When it comes to mechanical issues, a lot of times you don’t know if there is a mechanical issue until your engine starts knocking,” Harlock says. “Do regular maintenance on your vehicles to make sure things like this [may] not happen.”
