Matthew Perry’s former personal assistant, Kenneth Iwamasa, received a three-year, five-month federal prison sentence Wednesday for administering fatal ketamine injections to the Friends actor. The 59-year-old must also pay a $10,000 fine and surrender by July 17th. Perry died October 28, 2023, from an accidental ketamine overdose in his Pacific Palisades hot tub. Iwamasa pleaded guilty in August 2024 to conspiracy to distribute ketamine, admitting he repeatedly injected Perry despite lacking medical training. Perry’s half-sister Madeline Morrison called for harsher punishment, noting Iwamasa spoke at the funeral after causing his death. Iwamasa was the final defendant sentenced among five people charged. Others received varying sentences: Jasveen Sangha got 15 years, Eric Fleming two years, Dr. Salvador Plasencia 2.5 years, and Dr. Mark Chavez eight months home detention.
