‘Conan The Barbarian’ Sequel Will Shoot In 2027, Says Arnold Schwarzenegger
Arnold Schwarzenegger confirmed that King Conan will begin filming in 2027, marking his return to the sword-wielding character after 40 years. Christopher McQuarrie, director of the most recent Mission: Impossible films, will write and direct the sequel. Schwarzenegger told TheArnoldFans the timing works perfectly because “the whole idea of King Conan is that, for 40 years, he has been king. He is older now. He is no longer in the shape he was from his heyday, and now people are trying to take him out.” The 78-year-old actor compared the project to Clint Eastwood’s Unforgiven, promising “extraordinary battles.” The announcement coincides with the 44th anniversary of 1982’s Conan the Barbarian. Schwarzenegger last played Conan in 1984’s Conan the Destroyer, skipping 2011’s poorly-received Jason Momoa reboot.
