GAZA — A former Kamloops resident is among a group of activists who has been detained by Israeli forces while trying to deliver aid to war-torn Gaza.

The organization Global Sumud Flotilla says Sebastian Tow was among seven people aboard the vessel Suhmata (Last Dream) when it was intercepted earlier Tuesday (May 19).

Tow, who now lives in Vancouver, is the son of the late Jeremy Tow, a former artistic director for Western Canada Theatre.

The organization posted a video message to social media Tuesday, which Tow recorded previously with the intention it be made public in the event of his detention.
