Apple TV is developing a new comedy, American Comfort, inspired by Harlem restaurateur Melba Wilson. The series comes from black-ish creator Kenya Barris, Oprah Winfrey, and Aaron Kaplan. Oscar and Emmy nominee Danielle Brooks will star as Melba, the owner of a beloved soul food restaurant, and also serve as executive producer. Story URL

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos says he is not personally in contact with the family of Nancy Guthrie, who has been missing for more than 100 days in Tucson. Nanos said communication is managed through investigators on the case. He acknowledged the frustration felt by the Guthrie family and the public but said the investigation continues. Story URL

Rolling Stone magazine announced the Rolling Stone Residency, a six-night series of live interviews and acoustic performances at New York’s Cherry Lane Theatre. Disney+ is developing a TV adaptation of Ella Enchanted, based on the 2004 film. Anne Hathaway, who starred in the original, will executive produce. The story follows 16-year-old Ella of Frell, cursed to obey every command, as she attends boarding school and discovers the truth about her curse. The new version adds a coming-of-age tone.
