Kamloops Pulp Mill testing alarm systems, holding evacuation drill Thursday morning

KAMLOOPS — Residents in west Kamloops neighbourhoods may hear alarm sounds Thursday (May 14) morning. 

The Kamloops Pulp Mill will test its alarm systems and hold an evacuation drill beginning at around 8:30 a.m. Thursday. 

In a news release issued shortly after 7:00 a.m. Thursday, Kruger Inc., the owner of the Kamloops Pulp Mill, says the test and evacuation drill is expected to last around 60 minutes. It’s part of the mill’s emergency preparedness procedures. 

The company notes that nearby residents may hear the alarms.
