Inaugural provincial outdoor recreation conference being hosted in Kamloops
KAMLOOPS — A first-of-its-kind conference in B.C. is expected to bring in more than 300 visitors to Kamloops.
The Outdoor Recreation Council of British Columbia (ORCBC) conference will be hosted at Thompson Rivers University from May 20 to 22.
The province’s first conference dedicated to outdoor recreation, Building Stronger Communities Through Outdoor Recreation, will bring in Indigenous partners, land managers, researchers, tourism organizations, government representatives, students and recreation leaders from across B.C. to Kamloops.
In a news release issued Wednesday (May 13), the ORCBC says the conference will feature keynote speakers, panel discussions, workshops and field-based learning experiences focused on the opportunities and challenges facing the recreation sector. More than 80 speakers and presenters from across B.C. will participate, including Tamara Davidson, B.C.’s Minister of Environment and Parks.
