Paul McCartney Declined His Own Netflix Roast Offer Before Kevin Hart Special
Paul McCartney turned down an offer to be roasted on Netflix before producers selected Kevin Hart for the streaming platform’s latest comedy special. Jeff Ross, the “Roastmaster General” and executive producer, confirmed to Variety that McCartney was approached for the project. “We did ask Paul McCartney at one point. To me, that would be a fantasy roast,” Ross said, adding that a McCartney roast “would be good for the world” because “he is so loved.” Netflix sought another superstar following their successful 2024 Tom Brady roast, which earned an Emmy nomination. The company also considered Will Smith as a potential subject. The Roast Of Kevin Hart aired live Sunday from Los Angeles, hosted by Shane Gillis and featuring celebrities including Chelsea Handler, Pete Davidson, and Dwayne Johnson.
