Kamloops girls win bronze at National Aboriginal Hockey Championships
KAMLOOPS – Payton Correia (Adams Lake Indian Band), Kaia Fletcher (Tlatlasikwala First Nation) and Destry Eli (Westbank First Nation) of Kamloops claimed bronze with Team B.C. at the National Aboriginal Hockey Championships.
B.C. blanked Ontario 2-0 on Saturday [May 9] in Regina in the bronze-medal game. Manitoba topped Alberta 5-2 to win gold.
Eli picked up the shutout between the pipes.
Meanwhile, the B.C. mixed team posted a record of one tie and three losses in round-robin play, and lost 8-2 to Ontario in the playoffs.
