‘Angry Birds’ Inducted Into World Video Game Hall Of Fame
Angry Birds has been inducted into the World Video Game Hall Of Fame at The Strong National Museum of Play in Rochester, New York. Created by Rovio Entertainment Ltd., the mobile game launched in 2009 and has generated over 5 billion downloads worldwide. The game introduced millions to touch-based mobile gaming during the smartphone revolution era. Beyond gaming, Angry Birds has expanded into films, with The Angry Birds Movie released in 2016 and its 2019 sequel. The Angry Birds Movie 3 is scheduled for December release this year. Creative officer Ben Mattes stated the franchise has “conquered transmedia categories far beyond its origins” through licensed products, animations, and activity parks. He added that “characters, emotion and story” keep fans returning to their games annually, calling the hall of fame recognition “truly special.” (Story URL)
