Kamloops council approves 30-unit housing project for women and children
KAMLOOPS — The City of Kamloops has entered into a housing agreement to help bring 30 units to the North Shore after a 8-0 vote during Tuesday’s (May 5) regular council meeting.
A new seven-storey building, featuring 30 units of housing specially constructed for women and families, will be built along Westminster Avenue, between Eighth and Ninth Streets. The new facility will be owned by the provincial rental housing corporation and run by the Elizabeth Fry Society.
The building on the site currently – which will be torn down – was previously used for the same purpose but only contained six units.
