George Wilfred (Bill) Martin

April 19, 1932 – April 16, 2026
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of George (Bill) Martin on April 16, 2026, just days shy of what would have been his 94th birthday.
Bill was born in Britannia Mines, B.C., of which he was very proud. He is predeceased by his parents George and Jennie Martin and his wife Marcia. He leaves his daughter Debbie and stepdaughters Kelly, Geri, Dana (Keith) and Susan (Wade) along with seven grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and friends.
Bill attended school in Britannia Beach and North Vancouver and graduated from T.J. Trapp Technical High School and New Westminster Business College. He then went on to a 38-year career within the lumber industry highlighted by a Vice Presidency, Sales at Balco Industries as well as numerous other positions with Canadian Forest Products Ltd, Arctic Mills Ltd, Kamloops Lumber Company and Alaska Pine & Cellulose.
Upon his retirement in 1987, he became a locksmith for 18 years in Vancouver and Penticton. Bill joined the Masonic Organization in the 1960’s and thus started a lifelong passion with his brethren and “lodge life”. He served in various positions within Mt. St. Paul #109 (achieving Past Master), Zenith Lodge #104 Burnaby, Progress Lodge #87 Vancouver, Penticton Lodge #147 (achieving District Deputy Grand Master), Penticton Shrine Club and was a member of the Okanagan Shriners Arabian Band. He was extremely proud to be a Free Mason and valued the service and brotherhood he experienced.
In his free time, Bill was an avid golfer, loved to travel and was very proud of his garden and his dogs.
A Celebration of Life with be held at the Masonic Centre, 343 Nicola St., Kamloops, B.C. on Saturday, June 6 at 1:00 p.m.
The Lodge will perform the Acacia Ceremony. Brethren are encouraged to participate and to wear their aprons under their jackets. Coffee, tea and water and a light repast will be on hand
