100 MILE HOUSE, B.C. — One person was arrested after a structure in the Deka Lake area was believed to be intentionally set on fire over the weekend.

100 Mile House RCMP say officers responded to the structure fire at around 11:30 p.m. Saturday (April 25). After investigators gathered physical evidence and spoke with residents in the neighbourhood, police say a suspect was identified.

In a news release issued Sunday, RCMP say the suspect remains in custody awaiting a bail hearing.

“The evidence collected was critical in identifying and arresting a suspect, and we’re pleased with the progress made so far,” Sgt. Brian Lamb states. “Arson investigations are complex, and the work done by members in this case reflects a high level of professionalism and commitment to community safety. Although an arrest has been made, the investigation is ongoing and we are continuing to work to establish the full circumstances surrounding the fire.”
