Large Kamloops RCMP presence blocks off section of 13th Street

UPDATE (8:15 a.m.): Kamloops RCMP say they responded to a report of a man with a gun who may be suffering from a mental health crisis.


Police Dog Services, the Southeast District Emergency Response Team and BC Emergency Health Services are also alongside Kamloops RCMP near 13th Street and Tranquille Road. In a news release, RCMP say they received the report at around 5:45 a.m. Tuesday.

“Police have apprehended one man and are continuing to investigate the firearm allegations,” Cpl. Dana Napier, Kamloops RCMP spokesperson says. “We are asking the public to please avoid the area at this time to allow investigators space to work.”

CFJC Today remains on scene. It appears two people in total were taken into police custody and members from the ERT are searching the home.

EARLIER: KAMLOOPS — Kamloops RCMP officers have blocked off a roadway on the North Shore Tuesday (April 14). 

Photos from the scene at 13th Street at Tranquille Road by CFJC Today at around 7:45 a.m. show multiple Kamloops RCMP officers and marked police vehicles. The property of police interest appears to be 905 13th Street, according to officers speaking through a megaphone.
