March 9, 1935 – April 7, 2026
Sylvia “Marie” Shale, 91, of Kamloops, passed away Tuesday April 7, 2026. She was born and raised in Vancouver to Jack and Mary (Arnett) Austin.
Marie graduated from Eric Hamber High School. She moved to Kamloops in 1966 with her second husband Ken, a steamfitter. She worked at Coopers, in Valleyview, and had loved volunteering for the Kamloops Blazers and RIH Afternoon Auxiliary. She was a proud and active member of Eastern Star.
I will always see her in her favourite chair watching her favorite Toronto Blue Jays, keeping records of their stats, or reading one of her books that she enjoyed so much and watching the neighborhood grow.
Marie is survived by her daughter Karen and son-in-law Scott Pattullo, her brother George (Marielos) Austin of Gibsons, B.C., and her many grandchildren who live in Alberta, Shaelynn, Durant, Brianna, Nick, and Owen (Alyssa). She was predeceased by husband John Munro, her parents John and Mary Austin, her husband Kenneth Shale and her son Arlen Shale.
We wish to express our heartfelt gratitude to the doctors and nurses at RIH for the kindness, support, and care shown to Marie during this time.
We would also like to extend a special thank you to the exceptional staff at Trinity Hospice, who cared for Marie during her final days.
There will be no service as per Marie’s wishes. Donations may be made to Trinity Hospice (Kamloops) and/or the Kamloops SPCA.
