‘The Super Mario Galaxy Movie’ Dominates Box Office With $372.5 Million Global Debut Category Icon

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie topped the domestic box office with $130 million during its opening weekend and $190 million across five days. This marks 2024’s largest domestic debut, surpassing Project Hail Mary’s $80.5 million. But the sequel fell slightly short of its 2023 predecessor, The Super Mario Bros. Movie, which earned $146 million over the weekend and $204 million in five days. Internationally, the new film collected $182.4 million from 78 markets, bringing its global total to $372.5 million. Project Hail Mary held second place domestically with $30 million in its third weekend. The Drama, featuring Zendaya and Robert Pattinson, debuted at third with $14.4 million. Disney’s Pixar comedy Hoppers earned $5.8 million at fourth place. Reminders of Him completed the top five with $2.3 million.
