Merritt RCMP call Monday night fire ‘intentional’

MERRITT, B.C. — Merritt RCMP are looking for the public’s help in their investigation into a suspicious fire Monday night (March 23). 

Firefighters were called to the scene of a fire in the 2300-block of Priest Avenue in Merritt just after 6:00 p.m. Monday and found two structures involved. 

Fire Chief Dave Tomkinson said the fire was quickly brought under control, and members were able to contain the damage. 

RCMP told Q101 Merritt in an email that the fire was intentionally set, and the investigation is continuing. 

Anyone with details about the fire is asked to contact Merritt RCMP at 250-378-4262.
