100 Mile House emergency room closed again Wednesday; sixth closure this month

100 MILE HOUSE, B.C. — The emergency department at 100 Mile House General Hospital will be closed again Wednesday (March 25), marking the sixth closure this month and eleventh so far in 2026.

Interior Health says emergency services will be unavailable starting at 7:00 a.m., resuming at 8:00 p.m.

No reason is listed for this closure, though earlier in the week, IH noted physician availability over spring break was limited.

The health authority is banking on recruiting strategies that have helped relieve shortages in communities like Merritt and Clearwater to also help in 100 Mile House.

Anyone in the community who needs emergency medical care Wednesday is asked to either call 9-1-1 or visit the emergency department at Cariboo Memorial Hospital in Williams Lake.
