Manuel re-elected as Upper Nicola Band chief
DOUGLAS LAKE, B.C. — The chief of Upper Nicola Band (UNB) has earned another term.
The unofficial results from UNB’s 2026 general election for chief and council on Saturday (March 21) show that Dan Manuel was re-elected as chief with 249 votes, surpassing the 91 votes cast for Yvonne Ned.
A similar race played out in 2023, with Manuel being elected as UNB chief for the first time by receiving 196 votes in comparison with Ned receiving 99.
On council, incumbent Brian Holmes received 257 votes, the most among any elected UNB councillor in 2026. Joining him will be Jeanette McCauley (247), Matthew Manuel (236), incumbent Dennis MacDonald (230), Craig Shintah (227), Valerie Cindy Lindley (219), Cebo Tom (215), incumbent Kevin Ned (196) and Stuart Michel (194).
