Highway 1 closed from Revelstoke to Golden as ‘further avalanche control’ needed
REVELSTOKE, B.C. — UPDATE(10:40 a.m.): Environment Canada has issued a rainfall warning for Eagle Pass to Rogers Pass with up to 70 mm to pour onto region by Friday evening (March 20).
The warning is also in place for the West Columbia, Yoho Park – Kootenay Park, Kootenay Lake (north of Balfour) and Arrow Lakes – Slocan Lake areas.
“An atmospheric river has been affecting southern B.C. this week and will persist through Friday delivering 40 to 70 mm of rain by Friday evening. This is on top of what has already fallen earlier this week,” said Environment Canada officials.
“Rain is expected to subside on Friday evening when the atmospheric river gives way and a cold front passes.”
