February 8, 1940 — March 9, 2026

William (“Bill”) Peters passed away peacefully in Kamloops on March 9, 2026. Bill was born in Vernon, BC to Saxon and Ethel (“Molly”) Peters on February 8, 1940.

In his early years, Bill was very active in Boy Scouts, including travelling by train to Niagara, Ontario for the World Jamboree in 1955. He later became a Scout Master and led many adventures to places like Peters Lake in the Monashee Mountains. He always spoke fondly of his involvement in the Scouts. Bill was an excellent skier and travelled through BC, Montana and Idaho on ski adventures with friends. This passion for skiing lives on through his family. Bill later attended UBC and received his degree in Horticulture. Bill proudly worked for the Ministry of Agriculture for well over 30 years and eventually retired as the BC Provincial Berry Specialist. During his career he was heavily involved with education. He was involved in various research projects, constantly engaged with growers and was a founder of the BC Agriculture Short Course (now the Pacific Agriculture Show). He developed extremely close friendships throughout his career and was widely respected for his customer service and passion for the industry.

In 1974 Bill married Marrgaret Peters (Nee: “Aitken”) and had a son, Saxon Peters in 1976. As a family, they travelled all over BC on countless adventures, always involving the outdoors, with a special fondness for the Kootenays. He always enjoyed spending time with his family and in 2003 welcomed daughter in law Erin followed by grandchildren Nicola and Jesse into the family.

He will be remembered as a polite and respectful man, who cared deeply for his family, his spectacular garden and his volunteer service with Kiwanis, the Church and absolutely anyone who needed some help.
