May 5, 1932 – February 27, 2026
It is with sadness, but also with love and admiration for a life well lived, that we share the passing of Rene Rotzinger on February 27, 2026, at 93 years of age. He was a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather.
Rene was born on May 5, 1932 on his uncle’s farm near Carmel, Saskatchewan, the youngest in his family. The family moved to Alberta where he completed his electrical training, a life-long career that he took great pride in. It was in Leduc, Alberta that he met the love of his life Nadia, and they were married on May 29, 1954. Daughters Cathy, Tara and Debbie were born in Edmonton.
After a trip through B.C., he decided that Kamloops was where he wanted to live. The family moved to Kamloops in 1965 where son, Robert, was born. Rene was a man of faith and simple pleasures. Family was the most important thing in life to him. He showed us all what unconditional love truly means. He will be remembered for his kind heart, steady presence, sense of humor and strong work ethic. Always willing to lend a hand when called and no problem was too big or too small.
He was the ultimate host and loved entertaining and spending time with family and friends. Nothing shows his dedication to Nadia better than the answering machine message he recorded: “You have reached Nadia and her devoted spouse.” He had deep love for his siblings (all of whom have predeceased him) and all of their families. His legacy is large. Rene is survived by his beloved wife of 71 years Nadia; children Cathy, Tara(David) Debbie(Stan) Rob(Julie); grandchildren Shawna(Brad) Brent(Andrea) Amy(Sam) Joe(Ed) Rhianna(Tim) Jennifer, Adam, Cole and Sage; great-grandchildren Lauren(Cole) Alix, Cloe, Leo, Naia, Chloe(Jory) Josh, Emily(Kayden); great-great-grandchildren Mayraki, Everleigh, Theo and Josie. His presence will be deeply missed by us all.
To honor his memory, hug your loved ones – he was a big hugger -and a random act of kindness would make him smile.
There is no formal service at this time – the family will plan a Celebration of Life at a later date.
Your memory will never die. It lives within our hearts, bringing strength and comfort always while we are apart.
