Dolly Parton Makes First Major Public Appearance After Health Struggles, Husband’s Death
Dolly Parton made her first major public appearance in months Friday at Dollywood’s 2026 season kickoff in Pigeon Forge. The country music legend addressed her recent health challenges and postponed Las Vegas residency, explaining she “got worn down and worn out” while grieving her husband Carl Dean’s death in May after nearly six decades of marriage. “I’ve had a few little health issues, and we’re taking good care of them,” Parton said during her keynote speech. She revealed the grief and other factors contributed to needing time to “build myself back up spiritually, emotionally and physically.” The Grammy winner assured fans that “all is good” and the challenges “didn’t slow me down.” Parton has been working on an upcoming Broadway show and music projects, including collaborations on “Light Of A Clear Blue Morning.”
