LYTTON, B.C — Environment Canada has issued a yellow level wind warning for the Fraser Canyon as gusts of up to 90 km/h are expected on Monday (March 16).

The weather agency says the strong southerly winds are expected to intensify on Monday afternoon before easing by Tuesday morning.

“A deep low pressure system affects B.C. beginning Monday bringing strong southerly winds at times to Fraser Canyon,” the warning said. “The strongest winds are expected late Monday afternoon through Monday night.”

Environment Canada says local utility outages are possible, and they’re urging people to secure all loose objects. People are also being told to watch for flying or falling debris and to adapt their driving for changing conditions.
