Falling rock strikes semi-truck on Highway 1 near Revelstoke

REVELSTOKE — First responders are working to recover a semi-truck that was struck by a falling rock along Highway 1 near Revelstoke on Friday (March 13) night.

Police say emergency crews responded to the call near Three Valley Gap around 8:45 p.m. last night.

In a statement Saturday, they say the rock hit the vehicle and knocked it off the road and into the ditch. The driver suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene.

“Highway 1 remained open, with traffic impacted in the area while first responders managed the scene,” the RCMP statement said.

It also urged drivers travelling through the area today to be cautious and obey any traffic controls in place while recovery efforts are underway.
