KAMLOOPS — It’s a sign that Christmas is just around the corner.

The annual Santa Claus Parade in downtown Kamloops is taking place tomorrow, which means some roads won’t be open until the afternoon.

The following streets will be affected from roughly 8:00 a.m. tomorrow (Nov. 24) to noon:

  • Nicola Street — 2nd Avenue to 4th Avenue
  • Battle Street — 2nd Avenue to 4th Avenue
  • St. Paul Street — 1st Avenue to 4th Avenue
  • Seymour Street — 1st Avenue to 4th Avenue
  • Victoria Street — 1st Avenue to 6th Avenue
  • 2nd Avenue — St. Paul Street to Victoria Street
  • 3rd Avenue — Columbia Street to Lansdowne Street

In addition to road closures for drivers, there will also be some temporary changes to transit routes.

Normal departures from Lansdowne Bus Exchange will occur from the start of daily service until and including 10:00 a.m. departures. After that, all departures from the exchange will cease and a temporary exchange will commence service from St. Paul Street between 5th Avenue and 6th Avenue.

Once the parade is finished, the Lansdowne Exchange will be reopened and service will recommence to all closed stops.

All stops on Lansdowne Street from 6th Avenue to the Overlander Bridge, all stops on Seymour Street from West Victoria Street to 4th Avenue, all stops on 3rd Avenue from Columbia Street to Seymour Street, the stop on 6th Avenue between Seymour Street and Victoria Street, and all stops on Battle Street from 3rd Avenue to Strathcona Terrace will be closed.
