KAMLOOPS — It’ll be Kamloops against Sherbrooke to begin the 2026 U SPORTS Women’s Volleyball Championships in Langley next weekend.

The seventh-seeded Thompson Rivers University (TRU) WolfPack will play the second-seed Sherbrooke Vert et Or in a quarterfinal game at 12:00 p.m. this Friday (March 13). It’s the opening game of the tournament that will be played at the Langley Events Centre.

Ranked second in the country, the Vert et Or went 20-1 in the regular season and 4-1 in the playoffs en route to being crowned the Réseau du sport étudiant du Québec (RSEQ) champion.

The winner of the game between TRU and Sherbrooke will face the winner of the game between sixth seed Saint Mary’s (the Atlantic champion) and the third-seed Brock (the Ontario champion) in a semi-final.

On the other side of the bracket, fifth-seed UBC – who beat TRU to win Canada West bronze – plays the host Trinity Western Spartans in the first round. Canada West champion – and top-seed – Alberta plays eighth-seed Montreal in the final quarterfinal game Friday.

The two consolation games will be played on Saturday (March 14) at noon and 2 p.m. followed by the semi-finals at 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. On Sunday, the fifth-place game will be played at 1:00 p.m., with the bronze medal game at 3:00 p.m. followed by the final at 6 p.m.

The 18-2 Pandas, who went undefeated in the Canada West playoffs, are favourites as they make their 27th appearance at this tournament. The Thunderbirds are playing in their 37th national tournament, and they’ve won a record 14 titles.

Alberta (seven) and Sherbrooke (two) are the only other teams that have won this tournament.
