100 Mile House emergency department temporarily closes for second time this week

100 MILE HOUSE, B.C. — For the second time this week and fourth time in 2026, the emergency department in 100 Mile House will be temporarily closed. 

Interior Health says emergency services at 100 Mile House District General Hospital will be unavailable from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday (Feb. 20). 

Residents in 100 Mile House and area are being rerouted to Cariboo Memorial Hospital in Williams Lake during the temporary closure. 

As has been the case during past emergency room closures, Interior Health said people should call 9-1-1 if they need emergency care, or HealthLink BC at 8-1-1 if they aren’t sure if they need to head to the emergency room. 

All other inpatient services will continue at 100 Mile House District General Hospital during the temporary closure.

The 100 Mile House District General Hospital emergency department has been closed for 52 hours combined so far in 2026. 

The District of 100 Mile House forwarded a plan to B.C.’s Ministry of Health to allow three nurse practitioners in the community to work in the local emergency department. 

The 100 Mile House District General Hospital emergency department was closed on 28 separate occasions in 2025.
