ABC is creating Dancing With the Stars: The Next Pro, a spinoff featuring aspiring professional dancers competing for a spot on the main show. Contestants will live together while undergoing intensive auditions, with the winner earning a coveted pro dancer position on the next “DWTS” season. Wildlife conservationist Robert Irwin, who won Season 34’s mirrorball trophy, is in discussions to host the summer series airing on ABC and Hulu. Three-time “DWTS” champion Mark Ballas and his mother Shirley Ballas, head judge of BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing, are being considered as judges. The show will also feature rotating mentors each week.
