Kamloops building sector off to hottest start since 2020
KAMLOOPS — The commercial sector and a large multi-family building got the Kamloops building sector off to a strong start in 2026.
New numbers released by the City of Kamloops Building Inspection Division show nearly $17.6 million in activity over 74 permits for January 2026 — up from nearly $16.8 million from the same month last year and the near $8.7 million in 2024.
It’s the busiest start for the Kamloops building sector since 2020, when nearly $19.5 million was recorded over 87 permits.
The most notable permit was issued for a $6-million multi-family building. Elsewhere, 16 commercial permits were worth nearly $7.6 million while two industrial permits were worth just over $1.8 million.
