Short-track silver for Canada; Women’s hockey falls to U.S.; top pairs team in
MILAN — Canada’s women’s hockey team suffered its first loss of the Milan Cortina Olympics as the United States blanked them 5-0 in Group A action Tuesday.
Hannah Bilka, with two goals, Caroline Harvey, Kirsten Simms and Laila Edwards scored for the reigning world champions, while Aerin Frankel made 20 saves for the shutout.
The defending-champion Canadians were without captain Marie-Philip Poulin, who suffered a lower-body injury in Monday’s 5-1 win over Czechia.
Earlier, Canada picked up its first silver medal of the Olympics in the short-track speedskating mixed team relay.
