Details released as Kamloops prepares to organize 12th annual Family Day Festival

KAMLOOPS — The City of Kamloops has released details about next Monday’s (Feb. 16) Family Day Festival at the Tournament Capital Centre.

The 12th edition of the annual festival will run 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., and it will feature a number of performances from Uncle Chris the Clown as well as music and dance performances by Bells of Note, Sim’ya Ukrainian Society Dancers, Old Time Fiddlers, and Lorena’s School of Highland Dancing.

According to the city, there will also be a range of family-focused activities, including arts and crafts, face painting, bouncy castles, science experiments, sporting activites, and the ability to try out musical instruments.

“Families with children of all ages are invited to join this free event, where the Tournament Capital Centre Fieldhouse will be transformed into a vibrant festival space,” the city said, in a statement.

A toonie skate and swim will also be offered on Family Day. Registration is required to skate at Valleyview Arena between 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. and 1:15 p.m. to 2:15 p.m. The toonie swim will run at the Canada Games Aquatic Centre between 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.

The wellness centre and weight room at the Tournament Capital Centre will also be open between 10:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. on Feb. 16.

The Kamloops Blazers will also be hosting their annual Faith and Family Day matinee game at 2:00 p.m. on Feb. 16. They’ll play the Victoria Royals and fans will be able to join the team for a post-game skate at Sandman Centre.
