During a recent Q&A session in London, Timothée Chalamet revealed that he spent over six figures of his own money for his Saturday Night Live musical guest appearance while promoting his Oscar-nominated role in the Bob Dylan biopic, A Complete Unknown. The 30-year-old actor made performing music a condition for hosting the show. “I said, ‘Yeah, can I do the music?’ He’s like, ‘No.’ I said, ‘Alright, I’m not doing it.’ He said, ‘OK, do the music,’” Chalamet said about his negotiations with SNL creator Lorne Michaels. During the appearance, he performed three Dylan deep cuts not featured in the film: “Outlaw Blues,” “Three Angels,” and “Tomorrow Is a Long Time,” backed by a full band that featured James Blake on keyboard. Chalamet, currently promoting his role in Marty Supreme, has hosted SNL three times.
