Trial begins for Shuswap man accused of murdering uncle

KAMLOOPS — Trial proceedings began Monday (Feb. 2) at the Kamloops courthouse for a Shuswap man charged in the killing of his uncle.

The body of Wayne Sirvio was found on August 5, 2023, on a rural Sicamous property. The discovery came three days after a missing persons report was filed and a search warrant was issued.

More than one year later, RCMP arrested 57-year-old Danny Sirvio, charging him with second-degree murder.

At the time of Danny Sirvio’s arrest, RCMP said the incident was targeted and there was no threat to the wider public.

“We hope that the arrest and charge of Danny Sirvio brings a sense of relief to the community of Sicamous and the surrounding area,” said Staff Sgt. Jason Smart of the RCMP Southeast District Major Crimes Unit.
