UPDATE: Police incident north of Coquihalla Summit cleared; details remain unclear

MERRITT — (UPDATE 1:00 p.m.): DriveBC says the Coquihalla Highway has been cleared and traffic is flowing again.

ORIGINAL STORY — Drivers on the Coquihalla Highway heading from Hope to Merritt are being told to expect major delays because of an ongoing police incident Sunday (Feb. 1) afternoon.

The details are unclear at this time, but DriveBC says drivers can expect delays on a roughly 18.6 kilometre stretch of highway between Mine Creek Road and Larson Hill. The incident was reported just before noon.

Drivers are asked to watch for traffic control personnel on scene. They’re also being told to be prepared to stop.
