CHASE, B.C. β€” Police in Chase have released a picture of person of interest in connection with an ongoing arson investigation that dates back to November.

Police and firefighters in Chase were called to a suspicious fire at a house in the 500-block of First Avenue on Nov. 26. While the fire was put out by the occupants of the house, police now say the building was deemed structurally compromised following a second suspicious fire four days later on Nov. 30.

According to an RCMP statement released Friday (Jan. 30), approximately nine cats and one dog were rescued from the house after the second fire. Police add the animals and the occupants of the house were looked after by Emergency Support Services and the Canadian Red Cross, though an update on their situation was not released.

β€œThe Chase Fire Department contained and extinguished the fire; however, the residence sustained extensive damage and was deemed structurally compromised,” Chase RCMP spokesperson Cst. Sarah Van Wilgenburg said.
