SPOKANE, WASH. — Nathan Behm scored twice but it was Vit Zahejsky’s first goal of the season in his second game back from his second major injury layoff that gave the Kamloops Blazers their second win in as many nights in the United States.

Zahejsky capped off a five-goal first period, as the Blazers scored five unanswered goals to come back from 2-0 down to beat the Chiefs 5-2 at the Numerica Veterans Arena.

“It was a good play,” the 18-year-old Czech forward said post-game. “[Cooper Moore] passed me on the back door and I was open in front of net. I’m excited. It was a big goal. It was a tough game. We didn’t play well in the first few minutes but we came back and we scored lots of goals.”

Coco Armstrong and Sam Oremba had the Chiefs up by two less than four minutes into Saturday’s (Jan. 24) contest, before the Blazers settled themselves down.

Behm pulled one back on the breakaway just past the five minute mark, before Moore evened the score at 2-2 at 15:23. Zahejsky then put the Blazers in front at 19:39 and they never looked back.

JP Hurlbert added to the Blazers tally with a highlight-reel goal less than three minutes into the second period. The Allen, Texas native is back in front in the CHL scoring race with 72 points, and he leads the Blazers with 31 goals in 44 games.
