David Beckham addressed social media dangers Tuesday, one day after his son Brooklyn’s explosive Instagram post. The 26-year-old eldest child accused his parents of “controlling” him for “most of his life” and trying “endlessly to ruin” his marriage to Nicola Peltz. Speaking on CNBC’s Squawk Box before the World Economic Forum, Beckham didn’t directly mention Brooklyn’s allegations but discussed educating children about social media use. “They make mistakes. Children are allowed to make mistakes. That’s how they learn,” he said. Brooklyn claimed his parents fed “lies” to media about him and Peltz, calling their relationship “inauthentic” with “performative social media posts.” He wrote: “I do not want to reconcile with my family. I’m not being controlled, I’m standing up for myself for the first time in my life.” Beckham representatives declined comment.
