Mike Flanagan’s ‘The Exorcist’ Gets Spring 2027 Release Date

Universal Pictures announced Friday that Mike Flanagan’s new The Exorcist film will arrive in theaters March 12, 2027. The horror revival will star Oscar nominee Scarlett Johansson and 12-year-old Hamnet breakout star Jacobi Jupe. Production delays pushed back the original March 2025 release date by two years. Flanagan (Doctor Sleep, The Haunting Of Hill House) is writing, directing and producing this “radical new take” on the classic horror franchise, which connects to the 1973 original but is not a sequel to 2023’s The Exorcist: Believer. This marks Flanagan’s fourth film with horror studio Blumhouse following Oculus, Hush and Ouija: Origin Of Evil.
