January 1, 2026
Our hearts were broken on New Year’s Day, 2026, when our beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather and friend passed away unexpectedly at the age of 82.
Ralph is survived by his loving wife Donna, his son Scott (Lei-Launi) Burford, his granddaughter Kayleigh, his sister Meredith (Larry) Christensen, his nieces Catherine Christensen (children Sarah and Landon Parsons) and Jennifer Christensen (Corey Balzer and their daughter Melia). He is also survived by many Steen and Burford cousins. His Logan Lake dog-walking friends (and their dogs) will also miss him sorely.
Ralph was born in Vancouver, lived his school years in West Van and then roamed the province with lengthy stays in Prince Rupert, Smithers, Vernon and Logan Lake.
After working as an agent for the Alaska Ferries and managing a Greyhound depot (and driving Greyhound buses) in Prince Rupert, Ralph settled into employment as an automotive parts person, from which he retired at age 70.
Ralph enjoyed RVing with his dog, his wife and often his son and family throughout the Okanagan, Kootenays and Washington State. He was an avid reader and loved good music, notably Gospel and Country and Western. Ralph was a kind and friendly man and could and would talk to anyone about anything. He was soft-hearted (he called it having “sympathetic eyes”) and a very gentle person. He was a favourite customer at the Post Office, the grocery store and the IDA in Logan Lake.
The family would like to especially thank the paramedics, volunteer fire crew and police officers of Logan Lake. By request, there will be no funeral but in lieu of flowers; memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
You may offer a message of condolence at Cypress Funeral and Cremation Services for the Burford family.
