November 12, 1955 – January 3, 2026 

John Hough of Lower Nicola passed away on January 3, 2026, at 70 years of age. 

He is survived by his loving wife Mavis McTaggart, children: Linda Howard of Post Falls, Idaho, William (Mimi) Hough of Surrey BC, stepchildren Craig (Heidi) McTaggart of Aldergrove, B.C., Ashley (Louis) Salinas of Plainfield, Illinois, Dustin (Leah) Kennedy of Mission B.C., grandchildren Aurora, Alaina, Liam, Santino, Khaleesi, Gideon, Max and Parker. 

He’s also survived by his brother Gary (Sherry) Joe along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. 

John is predeceased by his parents and many close friends. 

Johnny was a hard-working man in the construction industry most of his life. He loved the outdoors, and his happy place was in his gardens, spending time with his grandchildren and his dogs. He loved working with his hands and was a very skilled Native Carver. When cancer took over, he fought with everything he had but unfortunately, January 3, 2026, he succumbed to the disease. His strength, his fight, and his love for life were an inspiration to all who knew him. He passed away peacefully with his wife by his side, and he will be sadly missed by all who knew him. 

A Celebration of Life will take place at a later date. The family wishes to express their thank you’s to the Royal Inland Hospital 5 North nurses for their care in his final days. If friends should desire Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.
