KAMLOOPS — Kamloops RCMP are asking for help in locating two suspects who may be responsible for a pair of suspicious fires in recent days.

The first fire was in the 700-block of Athabasca Street in the Mount Paul Industrial Park on Wednesday (Jan. 7) last week, while the second was in the 600-block of Kingston Avenue, near the Halston Bridge, on Sunday (Jan. 11).

In that first incident, which happened around 2:06 a.m. on Jan. 7, police say a man and a woman allegedly cut through a chain link fence and stole approximately $4,000 worth of tools from a storage facility. Mounties also say gasoline was also poured on wood which was set on fire.

Four days later, police say the alleged suspects appear to have climbed a fence and set a pallet and cardboard box on fire, though there’s no word if anything was stolen from the secure compound. Police were called to assist firefighters around 12:12 p.m. Sunday.

“Video footage from both incidents indicates the same alleged suspects may be responsible for both fires,” said Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Dana Napier. “Kamloops Fire Rescue investigators and our Forensic Investigation Services are supporting both investigations.”

People with information about Wednesday’s fire are asked to call the Tk’emlúps Rural RCMP Detachment at 250-314-1800 and cite file 2026-621. Those with information about Sunday’s fire should call the Kamloops RCMP Detachment at 250-828-3000 and cite file 2026-1054.
