KAMLOOPS – One of the busiest holiday attractions in Kamloops, WildLights, has gone lights out as the event came to an end last weekend. The final day included a visit from the Kamloops Blazers, something which the park hopes to continue in the future.

The BC Wildlife Park says this is one of the strongest years on record.

“In the 28 years we’ve been doing that, this is the third-best attendance that we’ve had. The final total was 26,525 people. That’s absolutely fantastic for a 23-day event in Kamloops,” said Glenn Grant, manager of the BC Wildlife Park.

WildLights is an important fundraiser for the park. It helps the facility take care of the nearly 200 animals that call the park home in the winter months.

“With a good, strong WildLights, that really puts us in a fantastic position going into the beginning of the year, as everybody knows, in January, February, we’re only open on weekends, but we still have a lot of animals to feed and wages to pay and lights to keep on,” said Grant.

WildLights will be back in December, celebrating its 29th year.
