May 2, 1948– December 24, 2025 

It is with great sadness that the family of Gordon (Gord) Formanski said goodbye to him, December 24, 2025. Gord’s final wish was to see all his kids for Christmas. Somehow, the stars aligned and he was granted that amazing gift. We all imagine Gord at the ultimate car show or motorcycle rally with an eye to his next toy. 

For 30 years Gord, the “mop man” proudly maintained the buildings at the KXA. He made many lifelong friends while there. In 2005 Gord started work at MacArthur Island, a place dear to his heart. He loved the early mornings on the Island when all the creatures were out and about, and he really enjoyed the camaraderie with his coworkers. 

Gord was a hard-working man and no matter what the job, he did it with pride, dedication and to the very best of his ability. Those who knew him described him as caring, considerate, stubborn (in a good way), accepting and congenial. He was deeply respected by his family, friends and co-workers. 

Gord’s free time was spent watching his kids and grandkids’ sports games, gardening, riding his Harley, working on his Camaro, or engaging in a spirited debate about hockey or Chevys versus Fords. He was a die-hard Chevy man. 

Gord was born in New Westminster on May 2, 1948. He spent his early years in White Rock them moved to Edmonton in his teens then to Kamloops in the early 70’s where he trained as an auto mechanic. 

Gord was predeceased by his parents, Flo and Walter, his sister Dona and brothers Larry, Jim and Wally. His passing leaves a huge void in the hearts of his wife Melody (Mel), sons Jason (Pam), Adam, Danny and daughter Erica as well as the apples of his eye, his grandkids, Tanis, Kale, Hailey, Maleah and Hayden. He is also remembered by his siblings, Sharon (Ron), Barbara and Clint (Bud) and his wife Karen as well as numerous nieces and nephews and his best four-footed companion who brought him so much joy, Daisy. 

To Gord’s many friends and co-workers, our family extends a heartfelt thank you for the wonderful visits over the past weeks and for the thoughtfulness and support you showed to him. The visits meant the world to him. 

In keeping with Gord’s wishes, there will be no formal service. We will have an event in the Spring for family and friends. 

Memorial donations can be made to the BC Transplant Society or the BC Cancer Society.
