100 MILE HOUSE, B.C. — (UPDATE 10:20 a.m.): Interior Health says the emergency room closure at the 100 Mile House District General Hospital will end earlier that first anticipated.

In an update just after 10:00 a.m., Interior Health said the emergency room in 100 Mile House will reopen at 8:00 p.m. Friday (Jan. 2) instead of 8:00 a.m. Saturday (Jan. 3) as it has secured physician coverage for the evening.

“Until the emergency department in 100 Mile re-opens, patients can access care at Cariboo Memorial Hospital in Williams Lake,” Interior Health said in its updated statement.

This emergency room closure – which began at 7:00 a.m. – is the first one of 2026 in Interior Health. The 100 Mile House ER was closed on 28 occasions last year, with the most recent closure lasting 25 hours between Dec. 27 and Dec. 28. It was unavailable for a total of 377 hours – or nearly 16 days – last year.
