KAMLOOPS – The Kamloops Airport staff are clearing the snow as it comes. The airport expects to see a lot of arrivals due to the Christmas and ski seasons in the coming days.

“We’re seeing some delays out of Calgary, but here our team is well-experienced and prepared for winter. The amount of snow volume that we’re getting today is not atypical for us. They’re out clearing the apron and the runway and keeping it open for everyone to come in and save for the on-ground side,” said Tracy Brown, Operational Compliance Manager at the Kamloops Airport.

YKA is warning those who may be flying around Christmas time to be prepared for potential delays.

“Travelers need to be patient. You’re going to see longer line-ups. You’re going to see, road traffic. Be patient, be safe. People are flying with gifts, so be careful about what you pack, what you have in your carry-on versus your checked bag,” said Brown.

The airport has been busy the past few months and expects more passengers in the new year.

“November was a great month for us. Probably the best month we’ve had on record. This is a very busy time of year, typically for all airports, all across the world.”

Brown continued, “We’re actually coming into our busiest time of year, which is the ski season.”

Kamloops Airport recommends that all passengers check their flight status before takeoff.
