July 9, 1956 – December 3, 2025
It is with sad hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Wayne Harry Spence on December 3, 2025, at his favourite place on Earth, the farm, doing the things he loved.
His memories and legacy live on thru his wife Charlotte, his sons Jeff (Jara) and Jamie, his daughter Jackie (Joe), his sister Wendy (Bernie) and grandchildren, Davin, Derek, Wyatt, Logan, Lukas and Zoey.
Wayne was born July 09, 1956, in Kamloops, B.C. to loving parents Hilton and Helen Spence. Wayne knew what he wanted. At the age of 18, he bought his farm where he raised his family and hosted many gatherings for family, church and 4-H. He joined BC Tel in 1976 building microwave towers with the antenna crew and continued to retirement with Telus after 40 years.
4-H was a very large part of Wayne’s life. He was a 4-H leader for 14+ years. He raised cattle with his kids for competitions and later on used his “cow knowledge” for judging. His faith in God was unwavering, his involvement in his church included leading youth group, teaching children’s Sunday school, committees work, and willing to preach when called upon. Wayne lived his life by this scripture “Honour the Lord and serve him with all faithfulness; as for me and my house we will serve the Lord.” Wayne had the biggest heart and the best stories which left you laughing or crying. His gentle nature and generous spirit were evident to anyone he encountered. He had a unique way of developing a special connection with anyone he met, especially with each of his nieces and nephews, and of course this includes his cherished grandchildren.
Wayne and Charlotte spent hours exploring back roads and dreaming of their future together. He married his high school sweetheart in 1979, where they lived a life built on Love, Faith and Family. Charlotte embraced, supported, and encouraged his hobbies which included Model Railway, farming, and his beloved cows.
A Celebration of Life will be held on December 20 at 1:00 p.m. at the Free Methodist Church in Kamloops, B.C. In lieu of flowers; consider a donation to Operation Christmas Child. Operation Christmas Child – Shoebox Outreach of Samaritan’s Purse.
